7th Tradition for Zoom Meetings?

Uncategorized
Why collect 7th Tradition for an online meeting? Our regular meeting locations still have operating expenses. Our meetings facilities may rely on our regular rent to help pay their rent, utilities, and employees.Meeting supplies will still be needed when our meetings reopen. Coffee, paper products, literature, refreshments, and after an extended closure, we may experience a large influx of people who are motivated to re-join the fellowship in person. PLEASE PASS THIS ON AND DISCUSS 7TH TRADITION WITH YOUR GROUPS. WE CANNOT LET AA FAIL DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS! What is the value of your sobriety? Gratitude, expressed through contributions, reaches the still suffering alcoholic! -All the facilities that have allowed AA meetings to function in the past, still have operating expenses and we should endeavor to keep good relationships with ALL of them.…

Alano Club of Joliet Update

Uncategorized
Members & Friends, There has been a few inquiries about the re-opening of the Alano Club of Joliet, and with the Governor’s new “Restore Illinois” 5-Phase Plan, this is a note to keep you updated. For clarification, we are still closed until our Region / sub-region [Northeast / 7] is moved into ‘Phase 3’ by State directive, and even then it will be a ‘limited’ re-opening.[according to current Phase 3 guidelines, and/or unless the State ‘upgrades’ the Phases, giving us wider latitude].It is still early in the month, with much uncertainty & many mixed messages - and as the official document states, "This is an initial framework that will likely be updated as research and science develop and as the potential for treatments or vaccines is realized."So it will probably be…

What is Al-Anon and Al-Ateen?

Al-Anon, Resources
Al-Anon is a unique fellowship that unites members of different backgrounds, races, and walks of life in an inspiring endeavor: helping themselves and others to lead purposeful, useful lives by overcoming the frustration and helplessness caused by close association with an alcoholic. Alateen (Al-Anon for younger members) is a vital part of Al-Anon Family Groups. Young people seeking help with problems that arise when alcoholism afflicts a parent, another close relative, or a friend meet to exchange experiences and to gain an understanding of themselves and the alcoholic. The best place to learn how Al-Anon/Alateen works is at a meeting. You want more resources you say?

Service Conference Workshop POSTPONED

Event Change
Our Delegate recently received news that the General Service Conference itself is being postponed until late spring/early summer. Consequently, it has been decided to postpone our April 4th Pre-General Service Conference Virtual Workshop until further notice.  There will be no event on April 4th.  Please spread the news far and wide.  Why rush a good thing?  This delay allows groups, districts, and area chairs an opportunity for more time to meet, discuss and consider the input they’ll bring to the workshop.  We encourage you to make the most of this time to prepare. Area standing committee chairs will have access to Zoom accounts until April 23rd to allow district officers, committee chairs, GSRs and members to come together to discuss, as needed. We will publish a new date and agenda within this week. Thank you…
